The Moosmatt clock

The clock was made for the Moosmatt primary school in Lucerne which was built in 1912 as a neighbourhood school. The clock is therefore a school clock which was fitted into the tower of the school building.

The Moosmatt clock was produced by the clock manufacturers Moser-Baer in Sumiswald BE in 1914 according to high industrial quality standards. It has a clock-work and a striking work. The chime reminded the people of the neighbourhood of the past hour.

In 1976 the mechanical clock was replaced by a quartz one and so followed the faith of many other school and clock-tower clocks: it was shut down.
