On April 5, 2012, the Schau­la­ger was offi­ci­al­ly ope­ned with 10 his­to­ri­cal tower clocks (1526 to 1914). Over 120,000 peo­p­le visit the Zytturm every year.

Tower clocks exhibition in the Zytturm

A fasci­na­ting exhi­bi­ti­on in the Zytturm shows his­to­ri­cal tower clocks from the late Midd­le Ages to the 20th cen­tu­ry. A huge dial and hand-for­ged clock­work weig­hing almost 900 kg on the ground flo­or sur­pri­se us. Sin­ce 1406 to the pre­sent day the lis­ted Zytturm clock in the attic flo­or is wound by the city clock­ma­ker. The gears ratt­le and on the hour the ham­mer strikes the bell.

The view of the city, the lake and the moun­ta­ins is breath­ta­king. This Schau­la­ger with its nine tower clocks is uni­que in Europe!
